In 1493 when Columbus returned to Spain from his voyage to the New World he gained an audience with  the Pope and as a result the European  Christian Monarchs were granted the authorityfrom the church to claim all of the land they discovered and to enslaves all of the indfigenous people they encountered.

This Papal Bull planted the seeds of white supremacy the western hemisphere.
