Democracy Leads to Tyranny

Socrates hated democracy and so did the men the men who wrote the Constitution.They understood that when people are governed by the will of the majority the rights of the individuals can not be preserved and protected.

In our republican form of government the people are governed by the rule of law and not by the whims of the majority .

When tyrants are allowed to do as they please, the God given rights of the people become privileges.

The goal of the men who wrote the Constitution was to create a  government that would protect the lives, liberty and property  of the people. They delegated to the national government a short list of delegated powers and retained all powers not delegated to themselves and the people.

They knew that if the government was not restrained, like a cancerous tumor it would metastasize and become a tool in the hands of the few to exploit the many.
