The Bicameral Legislature No Longer Exists
The ratification of the 17th Amendment converted our bicameral legislature into a unicameral legislature with two houses representing just one constituency.
As a result, the senate has become a second version of the House of Representative and the people living in the ten largest states can completely dominate the people living in the 40 smaller states.
The purpose of a bicameral legislature was to create a mechanism where the large states could be prevented from dominating the samll states
