The Bicameral Legislatureis Long Gone
The ratification of the 17th Amendment converted our bicameral legislature into a unicameral legislature with two houses representing just one constituency.
As a result, the senate has become a second version of the House of Representative and the people living in the ten largest states can completely dominate the people living in the 40 smaller states.
The purpose of a bicameral legislature was to create a mechanism where the large states could be prevented from dominating the samll states\The Seante was created to prevent the potential tyranny of the states with the largest populations.
The ratification of the 17th Amendment gave the large states the ability to completely dominate the small states.
