The Bicameral Legislatureis Long Gone

The ratification of the 17th Amendment converted our bicameral legislature into a unicameral legislature with two houses representing just one constituency.

As a result, the the states lost their voice in the senate  and ir became a second version of the House of Representative and our Constitutional  Republic become a democracy ruled by a majority of crooked politicians and ignorant voters,

The Founding Fathers were divided into two different camps. One group consisted of men that wanted to created a union of equally  sovereign states  and the other wanted to create a powerful nation.

Those who opposed the ratification of the Constitution  feared thart the Coonstitution gave far too much power to the central government  that would ultimately lead to  tyranny.

The men who signed the Declaration of Indepemdence  believed that the proper role of government was to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people.

The rich white men that met in Phiadelphiain 1787 wanted to create a strong national government that would preserve, protect and defend their wealth, power and prestige.

Most of the Patriots that took up arms to to free themselves from British tyranny were opposed tp the ratification of the Constitution., because thet feared that a strong central government  would lead to the establishment of a British style tyranny in America.

The men who wrote the Constitution made an effort yo limit the potential abuse of power  by the newly created unird States, but gradually over time those desiring a strong central govenment prevailed.

The separation of powers and checks and balances that were established to prevent the abuse of power  gradually disappeared and Congress

The purpose of a bicameral legislature was to create a mechanism where the large states could be prevented from  dominating the samll states\The Seante was created to prevent the potential tyranny of the states with the largest populations.

The ratification of the 17th Amendment  gave the large states the ability to completely dominate the small states.
