In 1776 the 13 British Colonies seceded from Great Britain and in early 1860's 11 Southern States seceded from the United States.

The first attempt to secede was successful because the Colonist prevailed in a war the lasted 8 years. The second attempt by the Confederate States failed because it lost a war that lasted 5 years.

States have a Consitutional rightt to secede, but they must be willing to fight to be successful. The Tenth Amendment declares that any power not granted by the states to the Federal government are reserved to the states and the people.

The government of the United States did not have a right  to invade the south to prevent the secession of the Confederacy.

Without the consent of Congress President Lincoln took it upon himself to initiate aa war of aggression that led to the death of over 600,000 Americans.

The so called Civil War was not started to end slavery it was initiated to prevent the secession of the southern states.

Lincoln did not save the Unionm, he turnwd it into a new Nation. As a result the people and rhe states lost their sovereignty and became subjects to a Natoanl government.
