In the Preamble to the Constitution one of the missions of government is to promote, not provide for the General Welfare. When the government takes from one of the people to give to another it is not charity, it is theft.
Anything that the government gives away is first stolen from productive members of society. In a Free society people are responsible use their own time and talent to produce the things they need. It is a crime to harvest the fruits of another man's labor.
The government was assigned the task of protecting our rights, not providing us with things that we have not earned. Virtually everything we acquire is either earned or it is stolen.
Since the labor to produce can be painful, many people look to the government to provide them with the necessities of life. In the Bible we are told that "As ye Sow, So Shall Ye Reap". This is principle of Natural Law that must be observed for a just Nation to survive.
If you or I give stolen property to a friend, we have committed a crime and if the government takes from productive individuals to give to the less productive, they too, have committed a crime.
