Polybius, a Greek historian, is best known for his theory of anacyclosis, which describes the cyclical nature of government forms and their eventual degeneration. He also advocated for a mixed constitution, drawing inspiration from Aristotle and arguing that the ideal government combines elements of monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy.
