The Electoral College was established by the U.S. Constitution (Article II, Section 1) in 1787, and one of its primary, stated purposes was to safeguard against the "tyranny of the majority," ensuring that a candidate could not win the presidency solely by winning a popularity contest in the states with the largest populations..

The men who created the electoral college did not trust the jidgmrnt of the majority of the uninformed white men with the task of electing the President. They beleived that a panel of wise well educated men would produce the best possible results.

The winner-take-all method for allocating electoral votes, used by 48 states awards all of a state's electors to the candidate winning the most popular votes in a statewide popularity contest.

All of the votes cast in Presidential elections are not counted. Only the votes received by the candidate  winning the statewide popularity contest are counted.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that every persons vote has an equal value.

The winner take all method of allocating electoral votes is unconstitutional.

Critics argue this violates the "one person, one vote" principle by rendering votes for losing candidates meaningless and discouraging voter turnout in non-swing states.

It was the intent of the men who created the electoral college to have the electors represent their Congressional District. They believed that statewide elections would promote the tyranny of the majority.

People living in metropolitan communities would be able control the outcome of elections because of their numerical superiotity.

Los Angeles County has a population of nearly  ten million, making it larger than 39 of the 50 states and has 17 electoral votes.

Cook County in Illinois the home of Chicago has a population that would make it the nation's 25th ;argest state.

Cook County has 7 Congressional Districts and the five boroughs of New York have 11 electoral votes.

The five boroughs have a total of 42% of the states total population of 19 million residents and would make the city's population greater than that of 37 states.

There are over 3,143 counties in the United States and 435 Congressional Districts. The 3 largest counties have a combined population of 22 million and have 35

The Brookings Institution published a report on county-level results. The report showed that Biden won 477 counties, while Trump won497 counties. Results from dozens of counties were not finalized at the time, per Time magazine.

It is obvious that the election process favors the large metropolitan areas at the expense of the smaller rural communities. This is an example of the tyranny of the majority
