It is estimated that  350,000 to 500,000 Euirpoean immigrants came to the United State during the 17th century and half to two thirds came as indentured sevants.

Approximately 170,000  slaves were imported from Africa during the 1700's.

In 1790 there were 1,627,000 free white males  and 697,000 slaves
