In order to achieve success in life, an individual must be willing to risk failure and have the freedom to do so. Everyone I know wants to be free, however people who want freedom and liberty, must be willing to take responsibility for their actions and must respect the lives, liberty and property of others. Over 43% of Americans surveyed, believe the government should protect them from the risks of life. These kind of people are usually not willing to take responsibility for or absorb the consequences of, their own actions.

The role of the government is to protect the rights of the people, not to take their God given rights, nor shield them from the risks of life. People who are responsible for their own actions don't need the government to protect them, they only need a government that will protect their rights.

There are people who believe that individual freedom is more important than the collective security of society as a whole. We have one faction which believes that only individuals have natural rights and another that believes people only have 14th Amendment privileges and immunities, granted by government and "subject to their jurisdiction";

Amendment XIV Section 1.

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;.."

Over time, the meaning of words change. The word gay used to mean happy, but today it means homosexual; an entirely different meaning. The word liberal used to mean a person who believed in liberty and that we had God given rights. Today, a liberal does not believe in the principles of liberty. Instead, they call us a democracy, where the rights of the individual must be sacrificed for the good of the whole.
