The founding fathers made an attempt to create a republic governed by the rule of law rather than by the will of a single individual of a vastly ignorant and uninformed population.
An oligarchy of the rich and powerful could easily deceive the people to into voting for candidates and issues that would lead to the destruction of our country.
When the majority of voters are ignorant and uninformed it is relatively easy the pack the House with puppets who will
the majority. The founders understood that the masses were ignorant, uninformed and could easily be persuaded to support
