The amount of overly aggressive actions taken by members of the law enforcement community is becoming a significant problem. In the days of "Andy of Mayberry" the police were considered to be peace officers, but today they have become enforcers of the law. While their function should be to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people they have become ruthless enforcers of the law.

Many of the laws they enforce violate the God given rights of the people. While I am not condoning the behavior of Michael Brown, I don't think that the police officer should have the right to be the judge, jury and executioner. It seems that every death at the hands of the police is ruled to be justifiable homicide. Why not shoot alleged criminals with a tranquilizer dart that would render them unconscious?

I "assume" that everybody tells the truth ... until proven otherwise.  Brown's partner has already [officially] recanted part of his 'story'

The officer did not shoot the 'Gentle Black Boy' 10 times ... ME says 6, all frontal, one round fatal (Spent Brass Count has not been released).  At this point the officer is guilty of being a bad shot, even with a severe eye injury.

The officer has not yet 'testified'.  "What If's don't count.  The 'Gentle Black Boy' and his partner retreat but, the 'Gentle Black Boy' turns, advancing toward the officer in spite of commands to stop.  Seems a bit confrontational to me.

If someone kicked my door closed, attacked me, hit me hard enough to break my orbital bone (legally "atrocious assault") and charged me, I would empty the first clip, reload and prepare to keep shooting if he kept coming.  I wouldn't be thinking about gradual escalation strategies at all.

So he was a convicted felon, so what? We have a few in CONgress that either are or will be, so should we shoot them? I think that's too good, convict them and place them into the general population in a hard core state prison. The State is not as "nice"  as a federal prison health club.

No club fed for CONgress. Send them back to the state's who elected them, it's where they came from and it's where they belong for their crimes against the people who elected them. The FED doesn't have the tough love the state's do.

Sounds good to me. They collectively cause a lot more damage than thugs like Brown.

Thanks for the reply, I truly believe this November is going to really shake the boat that CONgress is as that ship is sinking fast and hard down by left bow in the Senate, I'm not voting for any incumbent in the CONgress this year or any other year from now on. If enough voters take this course of action and stand firmly on one term for office in CONgress, with no pensions or free high quality health care insurance for life, and no student loans for the elected one term only CONgress persons children, then maybe, just maybe they will read the bills they vote on before they vote on them. They should swear out an afidavit and sign it before they vote on a bill to assure they actually do read the bill, the penalty is twenty years of hard time with no parole in their state prison in with the general population. No exceptions.

Then get used to waiting, because the cops are all lawyered up and they will not tell the truth, they are trained to lie at all costs in such matters. BTW, 5 wars, which ones did you serve in? Did CONgress declare each of them, or were they Executive Directive wars? Just asking.I can think of about a thousand felonies that are completely trumped up BS. Now if they were in fact violent felonies, that would place a whole new light on Mike Brown wouldn't it? Please list them if you know of any, and forget the one's that resulted in his being killed, he never lived long enough to be indicted, tried and convicted. In short, no due process.

Ok. I still have NO OVER ALL opinion. However, I'm a fairly sharp guy and the story told by Mikes buddy has holes in it I can drive my truck through. The most obvious to me was the part just after the officer backed up, blocking both traffic lanes and brushing against the men with his door. At this point it is told that the officer was pissed off and reached out the window and grabbed this 6' something tall 200 plus pound guy by the throat and was trying to drag him into the patrol car. I'm 6'1" and 260# and I'm strong. I could NOT reach a guys throat that was my height through the window and if he bent down to allow the opportunity it would be easy to get free of such a hold through a window unless the officer is secretly an superman! Come on. And having pulled the man in close the officer pulls his gun and shoots him? I saw the footage of this man (Mike) strong arming a store clerk and he is no small guy. In fact he was an out and out THUG! Lets not make this about some poor innocent teen who was victimized by some cop having a bad hair day. Having said all that, the jury is still out on if the officer needed to shoot this guy to death. There is certainly a good POSSIBILITY he had to. Cops showing up in mini tanks and such didn't help and the looting should have been stopped on the spot. Foe now the message to looters is....it's OK, they will let us! I will not morn the loss of a Thug but this whole situation was handled poorly from where I stand.
