Common law, also known as case law or judge-made law, is a legal system where the primary source of law is judicial decisions, rather than statutes or codes. It is characterized by its reliance on precedents set by previous court rulings, particularly those of higher courts. This reliance on precedent is known as "stare decisis", meaning "to stand by things

In the united States we have a "Common Law" juducual system. Court decisions are based legal precedents rather than on rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and statutes.

A person in countries that have a Common Law Judicial system :

If there is no victim, there is no crime and the victim must appear in court to testify against the accused.

A person accused of breaking the law is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers ia court of law.

A person accused of a crime can not be required to testify agasinst themselves.

All persons accused of a crime has a right tocross examibe the witnesses against them,

A person found not guilty can be tried a second time for the same offense.

Persons accused of having committed a crime has a right to legal counsel.

Accused person are entitled to a fair and speedy trial

Members of the jury have a right to judge the guilt or innocence of the accused as well as the legitimacy of the law.
