Congress froze the number of mrmbers in the House of Representatives to 435 with the Perrmanent aAportionment Act of 1929.
In the 1930 census allocatedan average of one representative for every 285,000 inhabitants. As of thr 2020 census the ratio was one reprentative for every 761,169 people.
Congress should not have froaen the number of seats in the House of Representatives, they should have frozen the size of Congressional Districts,
Curently, Wyoming has 1 representatice for approximately 580,000 inhabitants and Florida has 1 representativ for every 769,280 inhabitants. If both states were being equally reprented Florida would have 8 more Congressional Districts and 8 more electoral votes.
it was the original intent of the men who wrote the Constitution to allow the number of Representatives in the House to grow as the population of the states increased. They wanted the size of the Congressional Districts to be equally apportioned. The huge discrepancy in the size of Congressional Districts is unjust.
The Apportionmant in the House of Representatives violates the the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.
Congress could increase representation in
the House and reduce the size of Congressional Districts by passing a statute like they did im 1929.
Freeaing the size of Districts to 50,000 would increase the number of representatives to 6,620 and would guarantee that the states would be properly apportioned..
James Madison is Federalist 55 indicated that the of Congressioanl Districts shoiuld not exceed 30,000 inhabitants.
Each of the representatices has a staff 22 administrative assistants or a total of 9,570 of these nelected and unaccountable bureaucrats do most of the work that were assigned to the men and women we elected.
