The men who supported the ratification of the Constitution were in favor of creatung a powerful national government. They called themselves Federalist, but the label Nationalist would have been a better discripyion of who they were .

The men identified as the Anti Federalists believed the central government was to be a limited government with a short list of delegated powers and all powers not granted to the cpntral government were reserved to the states and the people.

The central or should I say Natioanl governmrnt was ceeated to serve the states and protect the rights of the people,

Before the ink on the Constitution was even dry those favoring a strong national government began making efforts to turn the Federal government in to Nationsl govenment,
